Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi (G)
In the morning, you will be driven to Son Tay to visit the school compound where the American Special Forces mistakenly thought there were POWs. Next, your guide will take you to the International Friendship Village for Vietnamese veterans and Orange Agent victims. In the afternoon, visits to the Army Museum will present a Vietnamese perspective of the years of conflict. You’ll overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Vinh (B, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, you’ll visit the Ho Chi Minh Trail Museum in anticipation of your trip to Ho Chi Minh Trail before you board the train to Vinh. On arriving at Vinh station, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. You’ll spend the night in Vinh.

Day 3: Vinh – Dong Loc – Phong Nha – Dong Hoi (B, L, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, you’ll be driven to Dong Loc intersection which is widely regarded in Vietnamese eyes as the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. You’ll then pass through remote back country, closer to the border, as the scenery steadily becomes dominated by karst limestone rock formations. You’ll pass two famous intersections where until 1972 most of the Trail’s traffic passed over into Lao. Arriving Phong Nha in the afternoon, you’ll take a boat trip up to Phong Nha caves. It is probably the most beautiful with many fascinating rock formations with imaginative names such as Fairy Caves, Royal Court and Buddha. Phong Nha also boasts underground rivers, large caverns and passageways and broad pristine sandbanks. You’ll spend the night in Dong Hoi.

Day 4: Dong Hoi – DMZ – Khe Sanh (B, L, D, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, your car and guide will take you northwards to Quang Tri province to tour the wartime ‘De-militarised Zone’, better known as the DMZ. On the way, you’ll visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong bridge, the Ben Hai river battle sites. Your car will take to what was once the Con Tien firebase. You’ll spend the night in Khe Sanh town.

Day 5: Khe Sanh – DMZ – A Luoi – Kham Duc (B, L, D, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, you’ll visit the Khe Sanh combat base, Lang Vay Special Forces Camp and the Laos/Vietnam border. You’ll then drive to Kham Duc via A Luoi for an overnight stay. You’ll spend the night in Kham Duc.

Day 6: Kham Duc – Kon Tum (B, L, D, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, you drive to Kontum. On arrival, you’ll visit the charming Wooden Church and, if convenient, drop in at a nearby orphanage. You’ll then travel to Konkotu village for dinner and a well-earned night’s sleep in the village Rong house.

Day 7: Kontum – Pleiku (B, L, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, you hike through the forest to Jolong village and the source of the DakBla River, crossing the KonBa hanging bridge en-route. Next, you’ll climb into an inflatable dingy to ‘raft’ down the DakBla River, stopping on the way for a riverside picnic lunch. You’ll be met and driven to Pleiku. You’ll spend the night in Pleiku.

Day 8: Pleiku – Buon Ma Thuot (B, L, G)
Breakfast at hotel.
